In this blog I'm going to make frequent updates on things that are inspiring me to be a better person, and weekly updates of an interview with someone who in my eyes is "Like Unto Moroni".

I'm Back

It has been much too long since I've done anything on here, hard drive failure is the main reason why.
This post is basically to REMIND EVERYONE of what THE PURPOSE of this blog is.  I come on here to express my love and appreciation for those things that BRING PEACE to my life.

I've got a lot of things to post about, I'VE LEARED A LOT since I was last on here.  But there is one thing that has always been the rule of thumb for me...

TRUST IN THE LORD
PROVERBS 3:5-6

HE IS THE WAY for us to return back TO THE FATHER.  No man can be saved by any other name under Heaven!  I love the Savior for all that He has and will do for me individually and all He has and will do for everyone.
 I WILL FOLLOW HIM.

Peace

Peace

It can be found in many places... but only if sought for.  Peace does not sneak up on you.  Peace does not come uninvited.  Peace is not a cheap thing.  But it is always available.

Life will always have its conflicts and peace will always be wanted.  President Thomas S. Monson said the following:

"The consequences of conflict are so devastating that we yearn for guidance—even a way to ensure our success as we seek the path to peace. What is the way to obtain such a universal blessing? Are there prerequisites? Let us remember that to obtain God’s blessings, one must do God’s bidding. May I suggest three ideas to prompt our thinking and guide our footsteps:
  1. 1.
    Search inward;
  2. 2.
    Reach outward; and
  3. 3.
    Look heavenward."

What wonderful counsel!  I know that these 3 seemingly simple things can bring peace into our lives.  I challenge everyone to put it to the test in their lives, and see that the counsel of our Prophet is true.

Joy in the Journey

Today I was studying outdoors in this beautiful park.  At this park there was a sign that said there was another park about 1.3 miles away.  I had reached a point in my studies where I was going to have to read a lot.  So, curious to see this other park, I decided to walk to this other park while I read.  I was curious to see what this other park looked like.  On my way I saw many different things.

- A lady running with her dog.  She had a giant smile on her face so I said "Hi" and she smiled even bigger back at me.

- A little boy riding his scooter, wearing a helmet, knee pads, elbow pads, and wrist guards.  Of course his anxious mother was close behind

- A beautiful bridge that crossed over a small canyon.

- Two ducks, one male one female, swimming together in the creek.

- An elderly couple, probably in their seventies, walking hand in hand.

I later arrived at the park.  It was very nice.  I sat down, and thought about my walk... that when the thought came to me.  I really enjoyed my walk more that the park I was destined to arrive at.  I had found Joy in the Journey.

I had seen so many beautiful things.  Happiness in the runner, care in the mother with her small child, help from the bridge to do the difficult more easily, natural bond keeping those ducks together, and love that had lasted a life time.

In out lives many times we wait so much for the reward at the end of every ordeal, but don't stop to find Joy in the Journey, to look around and see all the wonderful things that surround us.  Yeah, I was tired after walking, my feet were sore, but was it worth it?  Clearly.

My father once said to me in a letter, "Be humble, be patient, and remember that the glory is in the journey, not in the "goal" at the end."
We all need to look for the wonderful things that surround us.  Be positive, optimistic, and hopeful.
Then you will find Joy in the Journey.

Something to think about

"Living the gospel does not mean the storms of life will pass us by, but we will be better prepared to face them with serenity and peace. 'Search diligently, pray always, and be believing,' the Lord admonished, 'and all things shall work together for your good, if ye walk uprightly.'"
--Joseph B. Wirthlin

"When we give thanks in all things, we see hardships and adversities in the context of the purpose of life... We are meant to learn and grow through opposition, through meeting our challenges, and through teaching others to do the same... the Lord will not only consecrate our afflictions for our gain, but He will use them to bless the lives of countless others."
